  • Welcome to the RunnerDuck Blog

We use to publish a monthly newsletter but decided to step up and do a blog instead. Just like our newsletter we will update this "newsletter" about once a month.
Each month we bring you news from our little town of Coupeville, WA and happenings around the island we live on.
We hope you enjoy our blog and we'd encourage you to sign up for email notification since it doesn't update all that frequently.

Day 36 – Reconnecting

Yesterday we drove through some more of the Ozark’s to Branson, Missouri. Once again the roads were pretty “woopie”, sort of like a gentle roller coaster. This was the highway seven miles from Branson.

We set up camp at the Ozark Country Campground which is very nice and clean. We’re nestled back in the woods a little bit and the shade is really nice although it really didn’t do much for the 103 degree F temperature yesterday.

In the afternoon Ken’s friend Gary came over and spent the better part of the afternoon getting reconnected after 42 or so years of not seeing each other. Gary’s the drummer for Mickey Gilley and Ken plays drums also so Marilyn sat in the corner and got to listen to stories of drums and musicians on the road in the “good ol’ days”.

Gary and Ken

Gary took us for a drive through Branson and we took some snapshots of the sights as we drove by. Here’s King Kong in front of the wax museum.

They have a large Titanic museum inside a large mock-up of the Titanic.

We stopped by Table Rock Damn and fish hatchery to see some trout.

The damn is quite large and there is a large number of fish pens.

All this fish watching made us hungry and we went to dinner at the Cracker Barrel. The food was pretty good but it was like every person in town decided to go there, they were almost lined up out the door by the time we got done eating. Good deal we got there a little early.

Ken promised Marilyn that we’d go see the new Harry Potter movie when it came out on July 15th. Well that didn’t work out so today we are going to see it at a matinee. After that we’ll hook up with Gary again and spend some more time together. He’s going to take us to a music show tonight which should be a lot of fun.

Tomorrow it’s on to Louisburg, Kansas, about 220 miles, for a one night stay.
