We use to publish a monthly newsletter but decided to step up and do a blog instead. Just like our newsletter we will update this "newsletter" about once a month.
Each month we bring you news from our little town of Coupeville, WA and happenings around the island we live on.
We hope you enjoy our blog and we'd encourage you to sign up for email notification since it doesn't update all that frequently.

Day 28 – Preaching To The Choir

Yesterday we drove a short 150 mile trip to Harrisburg, PA. Along the way we stopped at a rest stop and noticed a truck  that had passed us a few miles earlier.

Fortunately he made it to the rest stop and didn’t dump his load on us or on the road in front of us.

We set up camp at the Harrisburg East Campground, “DAMN IT WAS HOT”!

It’s a nice place with lots of shade trees which helps a little. The campground is a little noisy being in the flight path of a small airport, not too far from the train tracks and close to a highway. Fortunately it was so hot that we had the air conditioner on all night which made for some great “white noise”.

We stopped at Wal-Mart on the way to Ken’s aunt Shirley’s and lightened our wallets a little bit, it was 105 degrees F on the blacktop, “DAMN THAT WAS HOT”! We arrived at Shirley and Jim’s brand new home and enjoyed an afternoon of conversation. For dinner we all went over to cousin Cindy’s house for a great BBQ’d rib dinner prepared by her husband John.

We know that much of the country is boiling and Pennsylvania is no exception. So while we’re probably preaching to the choir but we would be remiss if we didn’t say “DAMN IT’S HOT”! We said our goodbye’s and headed back to the campground at 8:00PM noticing that the temperature was still 91.6 degrees F at 72% humidity.

The sunset was pretty but “DAMN IT WAS HOT”!

Today we head for Manasses, VA to spend a little time with Ken’s best high school friend Bill. They haven’t seen each other in almost fifty years. It’s going to be a thrill for both of them.

  1. Marilyn stand back because 50 years worth of lies are going to be swapped today. Also be careful because it’s really hot.

  2. It was sure great to see you guys again. Hope you have a safe trip and we get to see each other again soon in the near future. It’s great talking about old times and you are right “DAMN IT’s HOT!!!!!” Happy trails. Love ya; your favorite cuz Sandy 🙂

  3. I hope Ken and his long time friend have a great visit. They got a lot of catching up to do…Enjoy!!

  4. I read in the Seattle paper that Seattle has had 76 minutes of Summer. That is the total time the temperature has reached 80 degrees this year!

    • Perfect! Damn I wish I were there in it. Not that we’re no enjoying our trip but the heat can really get to you.
I know how much you don’t like Washing Ton and it’s weather so maybe you should go back to Montana and dry out 😉

  5. I was going to complain about how hot it is…then I realized that: 1.) It isn’t 115+ degrees 2.) I’m not 7,200 miles from home 3.) I’m not dressed in ACUs & helmet & carrying 70+ lbs. 4.) There is very little chance that anyone will shoot at me or that I might drive over a bomb in the road today! Thanks to all who serve in our fine military! God Bless y’all.
