Day 5 – We’re In Montana

Yesterday we were up and gone by 9:00AM for a sunny day of travel to Nugget RV Park in St. Regis, MT. It was a beautiful drive through the mountains with some pretty good ups and downs. We stopped at a little historic spot for some coffee and a rest.

The only bad part of the trip was the Montana I-90 road condition. It’s the worst road we’ve been on. The way they fix the roads is put up a big lighted sign that says “Potholes for the next 10 miles”, oh yeah that works, NOT! Talk about a shakedown cruse. The only thing we’ve noticed so far from the rough drive was the screws for the handle of the BBQ rattled out.

We arrived at Nugget RV Park and what a lovely place it is. The owners are very friendly and the camp sites are very nice.

One real plus was how level the campsite is. One of the pains in setting up a big camper is getting it level. It usually takes some sort of blocks under the tires and blocks under the jacks. This site was dead level and all we did was put down the jacks, nice!

Marilyn has really gotten into studying wild flowers so we went for a walk and took may macro photos of pretty flowers for her to look up in her book and study when we get back to camp.

We ended the day with a nice dinner and campfire.

Today it’s off to “National Bison Range” in Moiese, MT. It’s supposed to be a very nice drive with lots of wildlife to see. We’ll be spending another night at Nugget RV Park.

  1. Lived for many years in Montana before joining the Navy. Still enjoy it when I get back there. Parents retired in Fort Benton and if your travels take you in that direction, check out the old fort in downtown. My father still works there giving lectures and such (Bob Doerk, if you happen to make it!!)

  2. Has Montana sprung back from the ravages of the forest fires they endured a couple of years back?

  3. Sorry I-90 was so bad for you. It gets better as you come east. Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday. Loved the sundog picture from a day or so ago.
